Alumni Bios

Courtney Cholminski

I am a junior studying Arts Administration with a minor in dance at Wagner College in Staten Island. Is currently involved in the nationally ranked dance team at Wagner College with the position as Junior Captain. I am also involved in the Promising Students Society as well as Society of Arts Administration Society, holding the position of secretary. I have been on the Dean's List three consecutive semesters with a GPA of 3.6. I also performed in a show on campus called the Dance Concert which is looked upon as a huge accomplishment here at Wagner. After completing my senior year, I hope to audition for anything involving dancing and perform on a cruise ship traveling the world for six months. In the end, I intend to open a dance studio of my own.

I have danced at ZDC for 16 years and assisted there for 5 years. I just graduated Vernon High School in 2009. I am in Florida at Indian River State College getting my associates in dance. I auditioned and made it into a dance concert called "Just Dance" in December '09. And I need to add that I do miss EVERYONE a lot!!

Caitlin Dean

Caitlin Dean is a senior self-design major in Performing Arts Outreach with certification in English and secondary education. She served as choreographer for the 2011 Student Cabaret with Moravian's theatre company and directed and produced this year's production of "The Vagina Monologues." She is involved in Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, residence life, Moravian College Theatre Company, 26 Points Ambassadors, and the Moravian College Dance Company. She also currently serves as the editor of JUNK, a satirical magazine and the 2012 Student Cabaret choreographer. Caitlin choreographed a Musical Theatre Marathon of "The Lion King" and taught Glee club at Pennsylvania Youth Theatre. She also taught arts and crafts while designing costumes and sets at "Kids in the Park" and "Teens in the Park" in Woodbridge, NJ, a 6 week program that assists children in acting, singing, and dancing to perform a play at the end of a two-week session. Caitlin just got engaged in Disney in July 2011. Wedding is set for Fall 2012.

Marissa Huttner

Marissa Huttner is finishing up her degree at West Chester University in Music Education. Although an avid dancer growing up, the only dancing she's done since graduation is in the ZDC alumni group in the recitals. As a musician, she's had many opportunities to travel and perform. She's performed at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Vienna, and is scheduled to perform in Oxford in May of 2010. After college, she plans on attending Grad school in Music Education and eventually getting a Doctorate in Instrumental Conducting. But wherever life takes her, she will always remember her time with Ziegler Dance Centre and all of the life lessons she learned there.

Sarah McIlvaine

Sarah is attending the University of Delaware as a Finance Major/Russian Minor. She hopes to be part of the University's Repertoire Dance Company. Sarah is enjoying college but misses being a part of Ziegler's competitive dance team. Sarah danced at Ziegler's since she was three years old and competed since kindergarten.

Rebecca Miller

Rebecca Miller, a native of Vernon, New Jersey, began to dance at the age of four. At six, she began to study at Ziegler Dance Centre where she continued for 12 years with Peggy and Renee Ziegler. She then trained at the New Jersey School of Ballet under the direction of Carolyn Clark. She performed in their production of Nutcracker at the Papermill Playhouse where she appeared in various roles. She graduated with a BA in Dance and a minor in Fine Arts from Hofstra University where she worked and studied with Lance Westergard, Robin Becker, Stormy Brandenberger, and Karla Wolfangle. Rebecca also performed works choreographed by Maxine Steinman, Rachel List, Amy Marshall and Dyane Harvey-Salaam. She also studies with Andra and Ernesta Corvino. Rebecca has also had the opportunity to assist choreographer Martha Clarke in her work Garden of Earthly Delights for the American Dance Festival.
Rebecca currently lives on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. (She works at the Olive Garden Chelsea to help pay the rent). Rebecca recently joined HalloHallo Dance Company in the spring of 2009, and she is enjoying her first season with them.

Matthew Tiberi

Matthew Tiberi began his professional career in 2009 with "Spirit of Christmas" (Nat'l Tour) with Dublin Worldwide/Spirit Productions. He has since worked with Spirit in other numerous productions including "Spirit of Broadway" and "Dancing Queen". Matthew graduated from Hofstra University with his B.A. in Dance, where he worked with such choreographers as Nathan Trice, Amy Marshall, Lance Westergard, Robin Becker, Keith Thompson (of Tricia Brown), and such directors as Brett Smock, Jason Tucker, and Jean Dobie-Giebel. He also studied voice under Tammy Hensrud during his time at Hofstra, and performed in the premiere of Eddie Money's autobiographical musical "Two Tickets To Paradise". Today Matthew is signed under McDonald-Selznick Associates, Inc. talent agency, and continues to dance professionally.

Josh Weiner

Josh Weiner has danced at Ziegler Dance Centre since he was 5 years old, competed in middle school and high school, and has held many recital cast positions over the years. In high school, Josh also spent his time on various technical theater positions and was a yearbook photographer. Josh graduated from Ithaca College in 2009 with a BS in Television-Radio production, and is currently working as a programmer/scheduler at PBS Kids Sprout in Philadelphia. Josh is also the main music editor for the recital and competition seasons and each June you can find him back on the stage, performing in the Z-Guys, Alumni, and Adult Tap/Jazz.

Kim Thiessen

Kim Thiessen began dancing at Ziegler Dance Centre at the age of 4. She performed in the studio's many recitals, and represented ZDC in various showcases and fundraisers all over New Jersey. She also competed in regional and national dance competitions until the age of 18, earning the studio numerous Top performance awards, Regional Titles, and National Titles. After high school, Kim went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Drew University. During these years, she continued to express her love for dance through Drew's Dance Club as a dancer and choreographer, while also returning to ZDC both as assistant competition summer instructor and alumni dancer. Kim is now working in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn as a Licensed Master Social Worker, practicing individual psychotherapy with adults and children, after having graduated with her Master Degree in Social Work from New York University's Silver School of Social Work. She is currently working towards her clinical license, after which she will begin a part-time private practice and hopefully return to school for her doctorate. All the while, Kim continues to return to ZDC as an alumni dancer.
